Welcome to Rocket House Studio.

Hello. My name is Aaron. I'm an artist.

I've been calling myself an artist for a very long time now. Originally, I wanted to be a professional - the kind of pro that makes a living from his art. A number of years ago - quite some time back now, I set out to do that. I tried hard, for a solid year, to find even one gallery that would be interested in representing me. I was amazingly unsucessful. Though I consider myself a pretty competent sculptor, painter and draughtsman, I was unable to raise any real interest in my work. So, in the interests of retaining a roof over my head, I gave up. There doesn't seem to be a big enough market for "fine art" in this country (or any others, I suspect) to support more than a handful of talented and lucky artists at any given time. I have the talent; I just didn't find the luck necessary to make a breakthrough. I even ended up dropping out of college (I'm somewhere between 15 and 25 credits shy of a B.A. in General Art Studies). I am almost completely uninterested in creating commercial art; I do not wish to let others direct my creative output. Doing advertising art would be a hideous grind for me; that option wasn't open. I managed to fall into the computer industry (a bit of luck I did manage); so my standard of living is considerably higher than I suppose it would have been - but it's a definite tradeoff. I have the means, but not as much motivation, nor as much time to really pursue my muse. I still have a need for creative output, so I still do a fair amount of work . That being said, I've been doing a lot more work of late, and I'm again trying to find galleries and showspaces to hang my work in. Also, I have sold a number of pieces over the last few years; I am more than willing to sell more of my pieces - if you have a question about price and availability, please do email me.

I have studied art formally at C.S.U.Fresno and at San Jose State University; I have also had a very long course of informal study; my mother, a professional painter for most of her life, instilled a love of art in me early on, and was usually willing to answer my endless questions about art, and later, have endless arguments about "good art" with me. I have also done a lot of informal study on my own, and still continue that. Click on the icon below to get to the current gallery.
